My preference would be that fewer businesses and all of my competitors NOT utilize the services of Construction Lead Journal. It is sufficient to know that my name is Dave, my business is construction related, and my marketing trade secret is the proper use of building permit information. Both my wife and I were schoolteachers of moderate means when my wife was forced to retire from teaching due to multiple sclerosis. Four years ago, we started our business so that I could also quit teaching and spend full time at home caring for my wife. With some simple commercial computer software and the files provided us by Construction Lead Journal we have been able to design which clients we target market, what geographical area we wish to target, and when we wish to receive business from selected areas. We have been able to choose clients and select the areas of our trade business, which are the most profitable and least time consuming. My wife handles the computer and telephone and I provide services and deliver product. We are doing significantly better than when we were teaching and I am able to be home more often than when I was a teacher. Increased control over our money and time has allowed us to double the company staff to include our two little boy’s ages 2 1/2 and 1. We now own our equipment and have build up sufficient assets to expand our business and take advantage of other opportunities in our business. I do NOT recommend Construction Lead Journal and their services to competitors in my area as others circumstances are certainly different from ours. I must confess, however, that the people at Construction Lead Journal have not only been helpful but also kind and flexible.

I have found the Construction Lead Journal very up to date. I have used the valuable information to obtain more jobs and to gain a bigger customer base. Not only does the Monitor contain building permit information but also it categorizes it so that you can focus on your target customer. We have gathered building permits on our own from time to time but have found the Monitor very current. I know we get more business because we get the jump on our competition. I have been in the building supply business for 30 years and I know that the Monitor is one of the greatest tools we have to help us sell more contractors.

Before the Construction Lead Journal came along, I used to spend hours of my time going to the city halls and collecting the building permit information myself. With the Construction Lead Journal, freeing up my time and giving me building permit information from several more cities I was able take my business from $100,000 to $2,200,000 gross annual income practically overnight. I do not even bother to advertise in the yellow pages anymore! I get an amazing 30% response from my mailers which I select from the Construction Lead Journal list each week. I find it very important to reply immediately to those who call in response to my flyer and find price is not nearly an issue as service and quality. I highly recommend the Construction Lead Journal to anyone who is involved in the construction industry!

I get a TON OF WORK out of the Construction Lead Journal. Each week I will mail about 50 flyers to permit holders within 10 to 15 miles from my office and 5 to 10 will call me. Sometimes I get so busy I don't have a chance to mail flyers from the new lists each week but I always know I have an incredible system for finding new projects if work should ever slow down. Thanks for your great service!

I have been a customer of the CM for five years. I divide the permits up and hand them out to my sales staff to follow up on. They use the information printed in the CM to contact the appropriate party. I use the CM to make my company money.

| The Construction Lead Journal allows us to intimately follow new construction as it happens. We can not only pick up new builder business but insure that our current builder customers continue business with us. We have found over the years that, unlike many other information services, the Construction Lead Journal information is very real and credible. | To whom it may concern, I work for an insulation company in the Wasatch Front and use the Construction Lead Journal to make my living! I love the option you give under the Building Reports section of your web site. The building report form stops short of having the information I need. Can you add builders names & owner-builders names and phone numbers to the list, or at least an option? I am sure that this will be a great benefit for me and for others that use your service. I will attach an example that took me some time to put together. You probably have the capability to do it much quicker. Thank you for your time. |

Thanks Dave. We’ll be very interested when LV comes about. We’ve been doing business there for over 5 years and found it to be a very lucrative area given all of the construction going on there. We were recently exhibiting at the Pacific Coast Builder’s Conference in San Francisco and there were quite a few companies that service the area in attendance. I have attached a copy of our logo for the “Marketplace”. I tried last week to upload the image but experienced problems doing so. Again, thank you for your quick response and to let you know that we are very satisfied with your services and look forward to continuing our subscription. Best Regards,

The Construction Lead Journal is the ultimate tool in the construction business! Contractors call each other and compete for those top positions, saying such things to each other as: "I edged you out this week. I'm one step above you." They take the issue to the bank to use for leverage for loans.

Hi. I recieve and use the Construction Lead Journal for Denver Metro. I have just renewed my subscription, and thought I would take this opportunity to tell you folks about one little problem I have. In the Denver Metro edition typeface, a r next to a n looks almost identical to a m. Pretty hard to tell apart. Just a thought. Other than that though, I am very happy with your service. We generate a lot of business off of your leads. Thanks!!

Our company has greatly benefited from our subscription to the Construction Lead Journal. We use the online database service. We save these databases and use them to create a mailing list of potential customers. It has worked out great. We get at least 3 jobs each time we do the mail outs. It also gets our name past many potential customers' desks. We have had Contractors contact us years after we have sent them our information. They just stuck it in a file and years later happen to need a new cleaning company and 'BAM', there we were!

Sometimes I don't have enough time to drive to every little area in my region and the monitor lets me know about those places I don't have time to drive by. Later on I can find out what contractors are out there working that way and I can go after those contractors and see if i can pick up any of there business. So far it has been very helpful. Keep the info coming..... |
Israel Villarreal - Pacific Supply - Stockton, CA
|
I have been in business for a year and a half, so you can guess that I don't have a ton of contractors that I work with. The Construction Lead Journal is a good way to contact a lot of people quickly. Before CM I would go from city hall to city hall and wright down the names, numbers and company info. That's right, I would get a pad of paper and wright all the info down. You can imagine that took for ever. Then I heard about CM and I was pretty impressed with the whole idea. My biggest contract is with a company I hooked up with when I called them from CM. About 70% of my income this year will come from that contact, so that's pretty substantial. Thanks!
Steve Miller - Enmotion Builders - Riverton, UT

We are in the plumbing supply business and have a showroom attached to our outlet. We hadn't thought of this application when we first subscribed to The Construction Lead Journal, but,,, why not ?!! |

We feel that it is a great system. |

I don't advocate signing up for every subscription service available, but over the years I have researched many available resources and found that Construction Lead Journal is the single most authoritative source of building permit information available anywhere. Over the course of 5 years and two companies, I have found that it's definitely proven more valuable than the cost!

As the manager of a lumber yard, The Construction Lead Journal has really helped us in knowing what is happening with jobs in our area. My sales guys will take the Monitor and look it over every week to see who is pulling permits. We have been fortunate to get new business because of the ability to find out about those pulling permits and then contacting them. especially in a market like we have right now. THANKS CONSTRUCTION MONITOR FOR THE EXTRA HELP.

In our growing Cabinetry business, we have found the Construction Lead Journal to be a great tool. It is neatly organized, easy to read, and always comes in a timely manner. We use the information provided to send brochures and then make follow up calls. A good portion of our sales has come from the Construction Lead Journal. For this reason, we have not actively pursued many other forms of advertising because we feel that we can best reach our target market by using the Construction Lead Journal. It is an asset to our business.

To whom it may concern, I have been involved with your service for 3 years in the Wasatch front area of Utah. The information gathered, is used weekly if not daily. My favorite tool to use is the top builder report. The information gives me a chance to break down different markets for forecasting, as well as helps to provide contact information on perspective clients. The result in my trade is to be able to share information with sub contractors who do not yet have a tool such as this to contact the builders for quicker bidding. Another tool I use is the building reports by county. I keep a 4-year record of accomplishment on permits & values in each county. This helps to identify market changes from area to area. This service as helped to show our strong points as well as our weakness to be built on. Please continue to do a fantastic job on gathering such useful information.

I have had many customers come into the showroom and ask how I knew they were building a house or remodeling their home. I tell them that I subscribe to the Construction Lead Journal, and how this paper helps me to target my advertising dollars, and only to those who might need my products and services. I have found that I am more effective in the business world because I have used the Construction Lead Journal for over 1-1/2 decades at the different companies I have worked. I have also recommended the Construction Lead Journal too many other businesses as a prime source of contacts. Every person that I have told about your services, over the years has thanked me for the advice. You definitely provide a needed service as far as I am concerned. Thank you for your paper; I have used it in many states and counties.

March 21, 2003. Dear Construction Lead Journal, our company produces precast concrete window wells and fence for residential and commercial use. Each week we have the Construction Lead Journal for our area e-mailed to us. From that, we are able to send information to owner-builders as well as contractors about our product. After the information is mailed, a sales representative will follow up with the customer to inquire about an order. We have found that having this tool with the building permit information has been priceless, as many of our customers who never knew that our products were available until they received the mailing. Thank you.

Dear Construction Lead Journal: As a long time subscriber to your service(s) I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the quality of service that Judy Thornberg puts into your product. Time after time, I find that the information is not only accurate but also extremely complete. When I cold call, using the C.M. biweekly sheet(s), I find that the information gets me past the receptionist, call screeners, etc. and right to the decision maker. (I usually have more information than the decision maker does). Even if the person name listed on the permit is not the decision maker (for my line of work), they are so impressed with my intro. That they have no problem referring me on to the person I need to talk with! That is refreshing for me. At age, 42 I do not want to sound foolish when "hunting" for new business. Keep up the good work! In addition, God bless America and all those who serve in the Armed Forces and Security Forces.

Dear Construction Lead Journal, We have been using the construction monitor for less than a year, but I am sold on the product. We benefit in several ways from the services that you offer. The weekly reports give us a heads up on new construction that is happening in 3 of the 4 counties that we cover. Being able to pinpoint a specific house using the search feature on the website is quite beneficial. Finally, each year we hold a contractor's BBQ for the builders we do business with. We always try to invite new contractors, so we can introduce them to our products and services. The list and mailing labels that can be generated by the Construction Lead Journal make this job simple. Thank you for making our job easier.

I started using The Construction Lead Journal in December of 2001. It was the faxed version. We would use it exclusively for leads and send letters of interest to 15 or 20 prospects weekly. The decision was made by looking through the listings and picking out individual jobs, hand writing an envelope, logging in the name in our sheet and repeating this the following week. Now the Construction Lead Journal "Mailing Labels" feature writes my addresses for me. By I using the online service, I am sending out 90 or so letters and flyers, using the "Mailing Labels" option. I save a copy of the label sheet and put it in the binder for the log. No more do I hand write the log or envelopes. No more, mistakes when writing addresses. I get more mailings, quicker. My response is about 3 to 5 percent to the mailings. The Construction Lead Journal "Top Builder" report gives me the information that I need! I can target specific jurisdictions for builders, specific dollar values for projects, in any date range that I choose, then approach those builders for those jobs. We pull this report weekly. The Construction Lead Journal "Power Search" feature hunts down the builders name for me! I can phone in an address to my office and get the builder's name and phone number in the field for contact information now rather than visiting a jobsite and hoping that the right person is going to be there. The Construction Lead Journal is easy to receive! The Construction Lead Journal is faxed and e-mailed to me weekly. I can save the PDF and look up information quickly if our fax machine blurs a line or two or if I need to zoom in on a line. The Construction Lead Journal compiles and sorts the leads for me! I have gone to the permit centers at the county and city. I have gone to plan rooms and waded through those stacks of plans looking for leads. I used to spend more time running around looking for jobs and less time selling. The Construction Lead Journal is a true sales tool! I do not know what I would do without The Construction Lead Journal each week; it is the most accurate, most complete source available. The Construction Lead Journal helps me choose my customers! Thank you!
Jeff Pierson II - Crown Door & Supply - Portland, OR

The Construction Lead Journal is a useful resource for tracking new home construction. On a weekly basis, I now know which builders are building, where they are building, and how many they are building. The best part is that the report is e-mailed to me weekly in both Adobe PDF and database formats allowing me to view and analyze the data more thoroughly.

We set aside time every week - immediately upon receipt of Construction Lead Journal by email - for our salesman to sit down with the latest permit information and follow-up leads for potential sales. Often, we are contacting our subcontractor customers who work exclusively for a homebuilder before they have been told by the homebuilder that there is a job to do. Construction Lead Journal is one of our key selling tools.

I have been using the construction monitor for a number of years. I am convinced that it is a significant contribution to our business success. I make a number of mailings throughout the year to people who pull buildings in our area. We own a retail mom and pop stove and spa store in north Idaho. I believe it is money well spent. 1225 Michigan St. Sandpoint ID 83864, Fax 208-263-0582, www.mountainstove.com, Email: mtnstove@bossig.com.

Ence Homes has subscribed to the Construction Lead Journal since 1993. It has proven to be an invaluable source of market data. Before subscribing, I attempted to gather identical information myself. My personal efforts never resulted in the level of detail, reliability, and timing made available from your service. Your improvements in recent years to make the data available through the internet have proven to be a most valuable tool for me. Having both Dbase and Acrobat archive formats renders the data far more useful that just receiving your report on a weekly basis. Thank you for the reliability of the data. Thank you for your continuing efforts to enhance the service.

I use the Construction Lead Journal to track building activity in the Spokane Region. Besides providing me with a handy weekly update of residential permits, the material for large commercial and industrial permit valuations allows me to summarize valuation volatility between periods. I am periodically interviewed by the local press, and asked to interpret the Spokane Regional economy. The Construction Lead Journal provides accurate information in a timely manner with relatively low effort on my part, allowing me to focus on the explanation the impact of construction have as one of key drivers of the economy. The opportunity to provide data, along with the richness associated with each specific permit, gives me an information edge that adds to richness of my commentary.

Dear Construction Lead Journal: I would like to take this opportunity to express my support and endorsement to your publication. Since our subscription was initiated, our collective time and resources to consolidate city and county building permits in our marketing area, declined over 75%. Along with the cost savings, the accuracy of the information and timeliness of the report has enhanced our ability to respond faster to and for our customers. This report has produced for us far greater savings than its cost to us. Thanks again for a job well done.

We install radiant heating systems and solar systems. We used to receive the weekly Builders Exchange Magazine for our leads. However, we would always receive a great number of returns of undelivered promotional pieces. Since using the Construction Lead Journal, we have had a significant reduction in undelivered mail. We have signed over $500,000.00 in new contracts since switching over and we can search out leads and print labels using your web page service. Thank you for your excellent work!

We have been subscribers to the Construction Lead Journal for over 5 years now and I wanted to let you know how important your reports are to our total marketing program. We sell Beam Vacuum Systems as well as intercoms and ironing centers. We have many competitors and it is important to get our name in front of the new homeowner as much as possible. We send a brochure packet to all building permits each week and then follow up with a sales call. The timeliness and accuracy of your reports has helped us do this very efficiently. We advertise in the newspaper and on the radio. We also attend seven home shows each year throughout Utah. Our direct mail program to building permits works with our other marketing efforts very well. Our business continues to grow and we credit the Construction Lead Journal for helping us to be successful. Keep up the good work!

| I have been receiving information from the Construction Lead Journal for the last 5 years. Using the information provided by your service, I have been able to increase my new account business substantially. The commercial construction leads have allowed me to make first client contact at a time the consumer will be pricing the services and equipment my company provides. | As a commercial appraisal firm, we have found your Construction Lead Journal to be invaluable for information on new construction activity in the Portland and Salem areas. It provides timely information with respect to new commercial projects, which can be difficult if not impossible to obtain from the municipal or county development departments. Your web site is well designed so that it is easy to access the information that we need. We like that we can sort by a variety of fields, depending on whether we are looking for information in a specific area, from a particular builder, or by type of property (retail, office, industrial). In addition, since the information is posted on your web site, we have access at any time that we need it, not just during "normal" business hours. We really appreciate the service you are providing. |
Paula Greer, Certified General Appraiser - Cassinelli/Jackson/LLC - Portland, OR

Thank you so very much! Your publication is the best. I told my manufacturers rep about it and they signed on immediately. Good job!

The Construction Lead Journal is one of my key tools. The permits are still hot, they are accurate, organized in a format that is logical and easy to use, and all the information I need is included. The website is fantastic, offering TONS of information in any format I need. It is easy to get around in and loads quickly. I can look up information by builder, area, date, anything I need (Power Search is killer). The information is presented in a manner that is easy to read, easy to access, easy to print, and I can change my search criteria in a snap. I know exactly when the permits will be posted and schedule my work around it. The staff at the Construction Lead Journal are responsive, progressive, and proactive. The only problem I have with Construction Lead Journal is that they have not yet expanded to cover all my markets, despite my pleading on bended knee. Our markets (the Boise and Salt Lake City areas) that are covered by Construction Lead Journal have a better saturation, and I feel we have a better picture of these areas using this tool.
Sally Jo - A Company Inc - Boise, ID

The Construction Lead Journal has helped our company stay on top of the garage door market in our area. We often find builders we contact will be happy to get a price from us, and then by our contact and product information, we often gain a new customer. Without the Monitor, we would not be able to find these builders at the time when they need our services. Thanks for the good work!

Dear Construction Lead Journal, every week we eagerly anticipate the new Construction Lead Journal. Once we receive it, we simply highlight the builders to whom we have not yet sent a promotional letter, and the letters go out the following day. It is less time consuming, less costly, and less burdensome than cold calling and driving to and from looking for leads, and MORE hopeful than waiting around for someone to call US. The letters have yielded as much as a 10 percent response some weeks and the Monitor's yearly subscription rate is easily paid for in any given month. Thanks for your service; it has opened up many doors for us and we would not consider going without it ever again.
Troy Campbell, General Manager - Gorton Construction - CDA, ID

Valley Distributors is a family owned and run store, lumberyard, and door shop. Every week, we print up the Construction Lead Journal (Fridays) and distribute it throughout the company. The Monitor is used for finding new leads and to offer material bidding and growth information, as well as to monitor our sales force concentration upon each area. With outside and inside sales staff making calls, we are able to canvas areas we would only have skipped over in the past. Thanks for everything. ...
Todd Anderson, Manager - Valley Distributors - Turlock, CA
